SUN. AUGUST 28, 3-5 p.m. Giffy's Chiken Barbecue has been canceled due to the hurricane.  Ticket money will be refunded at the Open House on Saturday or  this week at the Visitor Center, Wed & Fri. from 1-4 p.m.  Due to Hurricane Irene, the Visitor Center will be closed on Sunday, 8/28 and Monday, 8/29 . 

FRI. AUGUST 26, 5-7 p.m. U&D Train Station, MTHS Campus. Meet Me at the Depot. 37th anniversary, cocktails, food, Silent Auction and entertainment.

Items Needed! One of our major fundraisers each year is the "Meet Me At the Depot" cocktail party and silent auction.  We hope that you are planning to attend the event on Friday, August 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  Beyond your attendance, we are hoping that you might be able to contribute something to be sold at the auction.  We are looking for items that have some connection to local history: prints, postcards, souvenir items from bygone days of Catskills tourism, books.  We also welcome certificates for specific services you might offer to auction bidders.  In the past we have auctioned grant writing help, a week-end at a mountain top retreat, home-baked cookies, what can you contribute?  Please consider a donation to this worthwhile cause and contact Cyndi LaPierre at 518 263-4442 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. SAT. AUGUST 27 11-5 p.m. U&D Train Station, MTHS Campus.  Annual Open House. Our theme is Waterfalls.  Featured speakers are Barbara Delaney and Russell Dunn, author of  the Catskill Region Waterfall  Guide. There will be arts and craft vendors, hay rides and entertainment; live music and food and a children’s art exhibit and contest sponsored by the Windham Arts Alliance. There will also be games, races and prizes for children based around the day’s theme. The event is free and open to the public.
