Kaaterskill ClovePostcard of Clove from Haines Falls sent 1907.

The gateway to the Northern Catskills, the clove is both beautiful and historically and scientifically significant.  It was a favorite subject of the Hudson River School artists as well as the classic location of geological stream piracy.  Lake creek which flows westward from South Lake was diverted when Kaaterskill Creek, flowing Eastward into the Hudson Valley met and captured its waters.
