Druid Rocks

19th Century illustration of Druid Rocks

On the trail that Van Loan calls "Circuit of South Mountain" - no longer maintained by New York State. The rocks are several large fragments broken off of the ledge known as the 3rd ledge.

Leaving the marked and well used trails behind, and armed with the imagination of a 19th Century Romantic, you may also see rocks shaped like a giant toad or rabbit.

Same rock? in Summer 2001

The illustration is from that period. The photo was taken in the summer of 2001.
