Inside the Station

The Ulster and Delaware Train Station
For those who haven't seen the progress we've been making on the train station, here's your chance to take a virtual walk around it on a nice day in July 2001.

Walking east along the old U & D right of way the station comes into view.

The tracks were to the left of the station
as seen on this old postcard .

The bay window beyond the handicap ramp was the location of the station office.

Looking back to the West.

Around to the front entrance.

Compare this view of the station just prior to our acquiring it.  Most of the problems are not visible in this photo.  However, notice that the previous owner had lowered the windows.  The interior had been partitioned into small rooms and the original wainscoting covered with sheet rock and in places removed.  The interior is largely restored and you can see by looking at the page of interior views .

In addition to restoring the windows, we replaced the roof - including some new beams, we had much of the rotted or missing millwork including doors reproduced. The furnace needed to be replaced, and the building had to be made to meet handicapped and other standards.

A great deal of work has gone into the restoration and more needs to be done.  We thank all who have contributed to the project.
