|
Please consider purchasing a book to benefit the restoration of St. Mary of the Mountains Church, Hunter, NY.
Author John Ham is publishing a new book, Those Good Old Days in the Land of Rip Van Winkle. Proceeds from the sale of the books will be used for the restoration of St. Mary of the Mountains Church, located on the north side of Route 23A, near the intersection with Scribner Hollow Road.
The Church, said to be one of the oldest houses of worship on the Mountain Top, was built in 1839. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. During the past several years there has been water damage from a decaying roof and restoration is planned for this summer. The Church has been deeded to the Village of Hunter by the Albany Diocese.
Three hundred copies of Those Good Old Days in the Land of Rip Van Winkle will be available for sale this summer. Signed and numbered copies of the book are avaiilable for a tax-deductible donation of $100 and all profits will benefit the restoration.
