“Ye Olde Country Fair” at the Historical Society
Don’t miss out. The time is getting closer. The annual open house at the Mountain Top Historical Society’s beautiful Haines Falls campus will be here before you know it. This year’s country fair theme holds the promise of fun and entertainment for the whole family. So mark your calendar for Saturday, August 25th and come on over….
Come for the bluegrass music of Dick Staber and Judith Chasnoff and stay for the foot-stomping of the Schoharie Valley Cloggers. Come to learn more about the fire towers of the Catskills from Marty Podskoch and stay to listen to Carver Blanchard on the lute. Come to enjoy the barbershop harmonies of the mountaintop’s own Sweet Adelines and stay to see the wonderful quilt exhibit by the Patchworkers. The barn gallery will be filled with the work of local artists and craftspeople. Carol Slutzky- Tenerowicz, Patti Ferrara, Tom Black, Francis Driscoll, The Nelson Family, Paul LaPierre will be exhibiting their work. You’ll have an opportunity to see and purchase photographs, paintings, walking sticks, stained glass, furniture, baskets and more. Pete Greco will be there with a great selection of local books from Rip Van Winkle Outfitters.
In the railroad station there will be a mini exhibit of artifacts from the era of the grand hotels. You will have a chance to see bits of history from The Catskill Mountain House, The Laurel House and The Kaaterskill Hotel. The members of the Historical Society Board of Directors will be on hand to show off the improvements to the railroad station and the property during the past year.
You will be tempted by great home baked goods and other treats ; you certainly won’t go hungry while enjoyng your day at the fair.

6:00P.M., a full day of fun for the whole family!!.
